(VOVworld) – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development officially launched the Vietnam Forests and Deltas climate change project in Nam Dinh province on Thursday. The project will focus on land-use planning and forest and natural resource management to help Vietnam develop sustainably, lower emissions, and adapt to climate change. Under the project, policies and action plans on climate change and green growth will be implemented in participating provinces.
USAID Vietnam Mission Director Joakim Parker said 26 million USD will be poured into national-level coordination on climate change related policies. He added that this project strengthens the US-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership by helping the Red River Delta region reverse environmental degradation and adapt to climate change.
