(VOV) – Politburo member and permanent Party Secretariat member Le Hong Anh on January 14 received a delegation of the Dominican Republic’s United Left Movement (MIU) Party led by its General Secretary cum Cabinet Minister of the Dominican Republic, Jose Miguel Mejia.
Majia briefed his host on the result of talks between an MIU Party delegation and a Vietnam Party delegation led by Hoang Binh Quan, head of the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission.
He also informed Anh of the Dominican Republic’s development, his party’s operations, and Latin America situations in recent times, and expressed his desire to further expand solidarity, friendship and traditional cooperation between the two parties and countries in all areas, especially in economics, trade and investment.
For his part, Anh congratulated the Dominican Republic on its socio-economic achievements and believed with government efforts and support of political parties, including the MIU Party, Dominican people will reap greater successes in national development to raise the country’s position in Latin America and the world at large.
He welcomed the recent signing of a cooperation agreement between the two parties, which he said lays a firm foundation for strengthening bilateral ties in the near future.
During the earlier talks, Quan and Mejia discussed measures to boost relations between the two parties and countries. They also exchanged views on the situation in their respective countries and regional and global issues of mutual concern.
During their stay in Vietnam, Dominican politicians had working sessions with a number of Vietnamese ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the military-run telecom giant Viettel, and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN).
