Nhan Dan Online – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has asked the police force to boost its key tasks in ensuring national security and social order in all cases.
Speaking at the 69th National Public Security Conference that opened in Hanoi on December 18, the Party leader said that in 2013 under the international and regional complex situation, the people’s police force has contributed greatly to the socio-political stability and territorial sovereignty protection, as well as creating a favourable environment for national socio-economic development and external relations expansion.
General Secretary Trong urged the public security force to fully grasp and implement the 11th Party Central Committee Resolutions as well as other directives on national security protection in the new period. He suggested the police to provide timely consultation to the Party and State in policy making related to political, cultural, information, and economic security.

Public security force across the nation should strive to curb the increase of crimes, strengthen efforts to dismantle organised crime, and speed up investigation and handling of cases that have been prosecuted and leave any criminal case untried.
Affirming the importance of the two day conference, Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang emphasised the need to clarify causes that lead to the increase of crimes and evaluate the effectiveness of State management over national security and social order to propose solutions for improving the efficiency of public security work.
Reports at the conference show that in 2013 the people’s police force has taken its pivotal role to ensure political security and social order, detect and prevent acts of sabotage by hostile forces, and wipe out crimes to serve the national construction and defence in the new period.
Over 44,000 criminal cases with 88,259 offenders have been discovered, while 1,730 economic violations with major corruption cases in the Vietnam National Shipping Lines and Asia Commercial Bank have been prosecuted, contributing to restrain the increase of crimes and create positive changes on safeguarding social safety and order.
