Hung voiced hope the two national legislative bodies will expand cooperation via delegation exchanges at all levels, learn from each other’s legislative experiences, and coordinate action at regional and international parliamentary forums.
Hung said the two sides must sign an agreement on investment protection and encouragement so that businesses have the legal foundations to tap into their potential for mutually beneficial cooperation.
Hung thanked Timor-Leste for supporting Vietnam’s bid to become a member of the UN Human Rights Council in its 2014-2016 term and fpr standing behind Vietnam’s and ASEAN’s stance on the East Sea issue.
PM Gusmao explained his visit is intended to deepen mutual understandings and step up all of his country’s cooperation and collaboration with Vietnam.
As a fledgling nation with a population of 1.2 million, Timor-Leste is eager to adopt the development lessons of national models like Vietnam. Timor-Leste wants Vietnam to back its admission to ASEAN, contributing to building a prosperous and united ASEAN community.
