VGP – Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen joined others from ASEAN countries at the opening of the 8th ASEAN and 4th ASEAN+3 Ministerial Meeting on Social Welfare and Development on September 6 in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Cambodian PM Hun Sen and Secretary-General of ASEAN Le Luong Minh stressed on the importance of social security and its role in integration and development process.
The two-day event will help realize ASEAN’s objectives of enhancing welfare and livelihood of ASEAN people by ensuring equitable access to opportunities to human development, social welfare and justice, especially the development of Social Services for All.
In the phase from 2011-2015, ASEAN nations have realized six projects and launched 24 others including seven ones for children, seven for the handicapped, eight for the old people and two for family development.
The 4th ASEAN+3 (China, Japan and the Republic of Korea) Ministerial Meeting on Social Welfare and Development will be held on Saturday.
ASEAN Social Welfare Ministers meeting is held once in every three years, aiming at increasing cooperation in social affairs among ASEAN member states and between ASEAN and its strategic partners: China, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
