(VOV) – The Vietnamese State creates the best conditions for scientists to contribute to national development, President Truong Tan Sang told Meet Vietnam scientists in Hanoi on August 24.
Sang said any war-torn country wants to focus on development after the war ends, and investment in sci-tech research is a viable option.
He pointed to the fact that Vietnam still encounters difficulties in sci-tech and education development despite constant efforts over the years.
The Vietnamese State considers science and education a top national priority and it introduces incentive policies to encourage scientists to contribute to the nation, the President Sang confirmed.
He expressed his hope that more international scientists will come and share expertise with their Vietnamese counterparts to support the country’s development and integration.
Rencontres Du Vietnam Scientific and Educational Organisation Chairman Professor Tran Thanh Van briefed President Sang on the result of Meet Vietnam in Binh Dinh province, noting that the event was of great significance, helping Vietnamese scientists to share experience in various fields with international scholars.
He said many scientists, including Nobel Prize winners, toured Hanoi, Hue and HCM City, exchanging with local students, presenting scholarships to poor, but excellent students, and attending the inauguration of the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (CISE) in Binh Dinh province.
Other scientists suggested Vietnam organise 4 to 5 similar events every year and develop basic science to create innovative products of high value to support national development.
Meet Vietnam was held in Binh Dinh province from July 28 to August 17 with the participation of more than 200 leading scientists from 30 countries, including five Nobel laureates.
A wide range of activities were held, including four international scientific conferences – universe in Planck epoch, the theory of relativity and the force of gravity, Nano physics from basic to application, and conference – doors to universe.
