(VOV) – Heavy rains and floods have left three dead or missing in the northern provinces of Dien Bien and Thai Nguyen.
The National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control on July 20 said that floods also destroyed many houses, submerged hectares of crops and broke sections of roads.
In Dien Bien province, floods swept away a mother and child on July 19. According to initial statistics, one house collapsed, eight families had to vacate and 19 houses were affected by landslide in Ha Giang City. Hundreds of hectares of crops were inundated. Losses are estimated at VND15 billion.
After the disaster, localities have actively implemented measures to overcome the consequences and support affected families.
