(VOV) – Nguyen Xuan Hieu, a student from Ho Chi Minh City Foreign Trade University, has won first prize at the slogan contest on Vietnam-Australia ties.
With the slogan, “Side by side or miles apart, our friendship crosses borders”, Hieu outperformed four other contestants, from HCM City, Danang and An Giang, to become the contest winner.
Hieu was granted a scholarship worth VND150 million to study for one month in Australia and another scholarship worth VND30 million.
At the final round, Australian Consul-General, John McAnulty said he was very impressed by contestants’ writings, adding that this year witnessed a wide range of cultural, sporting and educational activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties..
The contest was launched in Chi Minh City on May 22 by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam-Australia Friendship Association in HCM City, with the aim of helping Vietnamese young people to gain a better understanding of Australia’s culture, while promoting solidarity between the countries.
The organising board presented second prize worth VND20 million and third prize worth VND10 million to outstanding entries.
