In the morning of July 9th, Quang Ngai provincial Red Cross (RC) held a meeting to review its working results in the first six months and tasks for the last months of 2013.
As its report goes, in the first six months of the year, RC has helped and supported over 38,000 A.O. victims, poor RC members, policy families and Vietnam Heroic Mothers throughout the province with a total of over VND 25 billion; actively responded to the “cow bank” program launched by the VRC in the two districts of Ba To and Tay Tra and effectively implemented the project “Community-based disaster risk reduction and disaster management” with nearly 18,000 beneficiaries funded by American Red Cross.
Besides, RC also well implemented many social community activities such as examining and providing medicines free for over 5,000 poor patients, mobilizing and receiving over 3,600 blood units; and maintaining the compassion kitchen in Quang Ngai provincial General Hospital with an average of 120 free meals per day.
In addition, RCs at all levels also appealed for donations to help families in difficult circumstances, poor and disabled children; visited and gave gifts to policy families, etc.
In its tasks in the rest months of 2013, Quang Ngai RC will continue to further strengthen its capacity and role, effectively implement the plan of community-based health care, assistance to A.O. victims, the poor and other social policy families in the province.
