(VOV) – The Central Highland province of Lam Dong has adopted a plan to build six new railway routes from the resort city of Da Lat to several tourism sites by 2020.
Director of the Lam Dong provincial Transport Department Truong Huu Hiep says the route will link the city centre to Lang Biang Mountain, Tuyen Lam Lake, Love Valley, the Central Highland Biological Institute and Lien Khuong Airport across a total length of up to 90km.
The project is estimated at about US$2 billion sourced from private investors. It will covers the installation of a mono-railway, which will carry six-carriage trains to run at speeds of 30-40km per hour.
The 84km-long railway route connecting Thap Cham (in the central province of Phan Rang) and Da Lat will be restored at a total cost of US$185 million.
The Thap Cham-Da Lat route is expected for completion by 2015.
