(VOVworld)- The 23rd Global Summit of Women (GSW) themed “Women: Creating New Economies” opened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia yesterday/ on Thursday with the participation of the more than 1.100 representatives.
As a special guest of the summit, Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, praising the theme of this year’s Global Summit of Women. Doan discussed Vietnamese women’s role and their contributions to the country’s socio-economic development, State attention given to promoting gender equality and the advancement of women and Vietnamese policies on the implementation of millennium goals on gender equality. Doan expressed her hope that after this summit the message will be delivered to all leaders of countries to create the best possible conditions for women, especially in supporting women’s contributions for creating a new economy. The annual Global Summit of Women aims to raise public awareness of gender equality and women roles in society. The event continues to receive a positive response from State, parliamentary and business female leaders.
