PANO – The Vietnamese Government’s Special Mission, led by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy Minister of National Defence, met Cambodian Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An in Phnom Penh on June 19th.
The Vietnamese general informed the Cambodian leader about the activities of the Special Mission, focusing on reviewing the work of searching for and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia.
The general also sincerely thanked the Cambodian government, army and people for their support for the Vietnamese search teams in Cambodia to fulfil their tasks.
At the meeting, Cambodian Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An hailed the friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia, and thanked the Vietnamese soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the development of Cambodia.
She stressed that locating and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts is the responsibility and emotion of each Cambodian. Therefore, the Cambodian government and people will try their best to help the work be completed as soon as possible.
On the same day, the Vietnamese delegation offered flowers at the Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Monument in Phnom Penh and visited the Vietnam Embassy in Cambodia.
